Newsletter Jan/Feb 2010
| Dear Parents A short update on events at Princess Road Pre-School and information for your diaries. Spring Term Our theme for this half term is ‘Planets’ and after the February break it will be ‘Animals’. All our planning is displayed in the foyer for you to see what the children will be doing. Miss Kelly is on maternity leave and we are awaiting news from her – the baby is due any day. Local schools close on Friday 12th February for a one week half term break. Princess Road Pre-School will be open as usual and Holiday Club will be open for the older children Inspection We are due for an unannounced inspection sometime in February/March. The Inspector will be Jane Appleton. In preparation for her visit we have some questionnaires to hand out and hope you will not mind filling them in. We have tried very hard to provide the best care possible for all the children over the year since our last inspection and we want everything to go well on ‘the day’! All our previous reports are available through our website or via the CSSIW website. We also have a copy here. Copies of our policies are also available at all times. Our review 2009 is also available, either in this section of the website or from the Nursery. If there is any extra information you need or anything you have forgotten, such as your child’s Keyworker, please don’t hesitate to ask a member of staff. Although we are a large staff team, everyone works very closely and will do their best to answer any questions you may have about your child. Lunchtimes For anyone new to providing a packed lunch please remember to include a drink for your child. I’m sure you will be aware of the recent concerns over children’s diets. In response to this we are reminding parents not to send any chocolates, sweets or lunch items with a high sugar content in lunch boxes. A cool pack is needed in warm weather if cooked meats and yogurts are included. Please name all lunchboxes as we have many identical ones (hundreds!). We have our afternoon snacks at about 4pm. You do not need to send anything extra for this as all food and drink is provided. The daily snack list is on display in the cloakroom. Kenya On 31st January Miss Pauline and Mr Sid (Christian) will be flying out to Kenya, East Africa, for a week to visit an orphanage and school in a village near Mombassa. The charity supporting the scheme is Education for Life and Christian first heard about it whilst doing his Duke of Edinburgh award. I am delighted that we are going to see the school first hand and learn how we can help the community further. So far we have collected about £150 from staff and friends during fund raising events which will be used towards providing a water pump for the community. We are hoping to raise another £100 before we go. Over the next few days we shall be selling some small cakes for the children to take home and hope you will support our efforts. We shall take lots of photographs while we are there and make sure you all have chance to see them when we return. |
